THE DUBLIN ENTREPRENEURIAL CENTER

The Dublin Entrepreneurial Center (DEC) began as a partnership between the City of Dublin, Ohio and TechColumbus to provide services and promote an environment that increases entrepreneurial activity and technology development in Dublin and the surrounding areas. In 7 short years, The DEC has grown from two tenants to nearly 150 and is now one of the largest entrepreneurial Centers in the US.

Issue: The DEC offers many programs and monthly events to help and support the local entrepreneur and small business community but was having trouble raising brand awareness, increasing event attendance, and encouraging engagement on social media.

Analysis: DTi Creative reviewed all facets of their current social media including: brand messaging, graphic representations, post frequencies, engagement, and content strategies. We then analyzed the many other Columbus co-working spaces’ social media strategies to find where the DEC could gain an advantage and leverage their brand more.

Our plan: DTi Creative redefined The DEC’s messaging to reflect being a local business community that offers the help your business needs. We also wanted to position The DEC as a somewhere you want to be. We created a new weekly content plan including spotlighting tenants and their news, creating monthly business tip videos and live streaming monthly events. We switched to creating events in Eventbright to achieve expanded reach and integration ease and added Instagram and created a library of tested hashtags. We used the cross posting feature to save time and help increase interest and reach across platforms. Finally we created a DEC Tenant page to strengthen community from within and give tenants a platform to share business news with each other.

Result: each has organically increased 69 percent. Engagement is up 38 percent. Instagram followers have increased 216 percent, and Linkedin followers have increased 189 percent.

W.E. DAVIS INSURANCE

W.E. Davis Insurance Agency is a longtime, family owned insurance agency located in Columbus, Ohio. Since 1938, they’ve been helping locals protect what’s theirs with tailored insurance products for the home, car, business, life, and health.

Issue: W.E. Davis Insurance Agency is very well known and established on social media and have a solid content/marketing strategy for posting. However, over the last few months they’ve noticed a steep decline in engagement between users and their content. To combat this, they tweaked and adjusted their messaging and increased blogging, but it just didn't move the dial. They needed a flash-in-the pan post to re-energize their current followers’ engagement, increase exposure, and gain interest from new users. Realizing their limitations on time, resources, and budget, they looked to DTi Creative for a solution.

Our Plan: Jumping on the recent scooter trend in Columbus, DTi Creative suggested a social video to support a blog post about what renting a scooter could actually cost you, a topic that hadn’t really been addressed by anyone else. Within a day DTi Creative was able to create a specialized social video, share it, and boost the post to a targeted audience.

Results: From 1 post DTi Creative skyrocketed W.E. Davis’ organic reach from 100-200 people to 3,827 people. It generated 541 post clicks directing clients to their website for conversion. The post gained 57 reactions, including 24 comments with an astounding 32 shares. On average they might get 5 reactions, comments, or shares on a single post. They experienced improved credibility throughout the Columbus community. John Koetz, the owner of W.E. Davis Insurance Agency was asked to comment on several other news articles related to scooter insurance and policies.

THE REFECTORY RESTAURANT

The Refectory Restaurant & Wine Shop is one of the oldest and most renowned fine dining restaurants in Columbus. It is known for exceptional contemporary American and classic French cuisine and delighting patrons with a superior dining experience and outstanding 5-star service.

Issue: Although The Refectory has an impeccable reputation for fine dining in Columbus, its clientele base was becoming very defined, and the younger generation viewed it as unapproachable. To survive and continue to grow, The Refectory enlisted DTi Creative’s social media expertise to start appealing to a broader range of demographics.

Analysis: Upon review, DTi Creative found that while The Refectory’s audience was organically expanding, its under utilization of social media platforms and scheduling were leading to its reach being extremely low. We also found it was not interacting with users, and followers were unaware of the various dinner music events The Refectory was hosting on a weekly basis.

Our plan: The first step was to give the content a down-to-earth tone while still reflecting the elegance of the restaurant. We also used analytics to fine-tune the posting schedule for maximum impact and balanced the content to highlight the constantly changing menus, award mentions, and events. To work within budget, we created a systematic approach to streamline posting. The process looked like this: (1) at about 5 weeks out, create a Facebook event (sharing on twitter); (2) post 2 more times linking to the restaurants website; (3) publish one more post in the Facebook event the week before the event date. For every artist that was performing at the dinner music series, we followed and liked his or her content. Each event or post we made, we tagged the artist and used appropriate hashtags to extend reach. We took on monitoring their social media channels more closely and responded in a friendly manner to anyone who checked in or commented on a post. This has greatly impacted the approachability of the restaurant.

Result: Reach has organically increased 216 percent s. Interaction with posts has significantly increased in the last 6 months with a 152 percent increase in link clicks. Dinner Music Events are selling out faster and direct linking to the website is helping to make clients more aware of all the events happening at the restaurant. By taking a more proactive approach to interacting with its followers, the restaurant is seeing significantly more diversity and now have 35 percent of fans aged between 25-44 and 23 percent aged between 45-64.
